The first edition Nebraska Commemorative Ornament
TOWERS OF HISTORY designed by nationally known artist Gene Roncka
has been issued Proclamations from Nebraska Governor
Dave Heineman and Ashland Mayor Paul Lienke. The ornament, 24
karat gold on mirrored brass with only 500 produced, salutes
Nebraska yesterday and today's extraordinary history. The 1846 Nebraska's
own OxBow Trail crossed Saline Ford in Ashland carrying thousands of
Pioneers, Freight Wagons, Military and Native Americans.
Clayton C. Anderson, a native of Ashland is the first astronaut from Nebraska
to travel into space and spend 152 days aboard the International
Space Station. He has been chosen to reenter space in early 2010.
The ornate three dimensional ornament comes in a velvet
pouch with a description of the history it proclaims. Gene's designed
ornaments have gained recognition from six created for Easter
Seals to one of the three top ornaments chosen to hang on the White
House 2007 Christmas Tree honoring the Homestead National Monument
in Beatrice. The Towers of History first historic commemorative
keepsake ornament is one to treasure.
